Timemore C3s Manual Grinder

For almost a year now, I had been using a generic ceramic burr grinder I got from amazon. It did the job, but took time and had started to show its age. The grinding process wasn't smooth, with the beans getting stuck and requiring a bit more force to go through the stuck bean. The jerk resulted in an uneven grind, with powdery coffee mixed in with the granules. In a Moka pot, the powdery part has a tendency to rise up with the water into the collection chamber.

So after researching a bit (a.k.a YouTube), I decided to take the plunge and get me a "proper" grinder. After a little thought, almost all of it concerning the price, I decided on the Timemore C3s.

What are the differences?

  • Metal Burr - This is by far the biggest difference. Smoother grind (no beans getting stuck) and longer life, compared to the ceramic grinder.
  • Metal Body - The whole body is matt black metal. Sexy!

And what change do I see, for all the money spent?

  • Faster Grind: Yes, the grind is definitely faster. It takes me less than half the amount of time to grind the same amount of coffee.
  • Even Grind: The resulting ground coffee is much more uniform, and thus a much better and even extraction, no grit and just a cleaner cup.

Worth it?

Yup. It grinds quicker, smoother and uniform-er. And looks cool on my coffee bar. I call that a win.

Get the letter.

New pieces and the odd brewing note. Roughly monthly.
